This Firefox hack sort-of obscure, but is easy, safe, and "user-friendly" so it is slightly surprising that it isn't widely known to most Firefox users. This is a step-by-step tutorial on how to impliment the hack.
First type "about:config" into the address bar in a Firefox window. There will be a textbox at the top of the window with the text "Filter:" on the left.
Type the text "network.http" into this textbox and then look for "network.http.proxy.pipelining" and "network.http.pipelining". Toggle both of them by double clicking on them and their values should both be "true" now.
Now find the item with the value "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests". Change this value to thirty by double clicking its value in the dialog box that should appear.
Finally right click anywhere on the page and choose "New > Integer." Next type "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" in the first dialog box that says "new integer value" in the header. In the next dialog box that has the header "enter integer value" type "0" and click "OK."
Now close all instances of Firefox and open it up again and now your Firefox is faster should be faster then before. If you have questions don't hesitate to contact me!
