Hi! This is Asolis, I’m Alex, and this is the About page (yay for A’s!). I’ve had Asolis since September 3, 2005 and I started this blog on May 5, 2007. Originally it was a subdomain of Asolis, Me.Asolis, but I decided to move it. While you’re here, I’d really love it if you were to comment on one of the posts I’ve made!
As for me, I’m just some random sixteen year old Bay Stater in my sophomore year of high school.
What, you want to know more? Well, here’s a political quiz I took; keep in mind that my results tend to vary from time to time as I don’t have really a definite opinion on any of the questions from that quiz. Another quiz I took regarding beliefs says I’m a secular humanist. I don’t identify with liberalism, secular humanism, or any other label for that matter, but I suppose many of the views I hold I share with those who do identify with liberalism and secular humanism. That’s mostly coincidental as I come from a somewhat conservative Christian upbringing. It just so happens that many—though not all—views liberals and secular humanists hold are rational, while very many views conservative Christians hold are irrational. Therefore, I tend not to hold those views held by conservative Christians as a result of their irrationality and reliance on tradition and superstition. That’s one of the reasons I tend to dislike those types of labels, they lock you into holding certain views instead of encouraging you to think critically about what you believe in every instance. As I don’t identify with one, I’m more than willing to disagree with views considered liberal, libertarian, conservative, Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Humanistic, etc. Anyway, now that I’ve finished my mini-critique of these sorts of labels, I’m almost done.
Hm… what else. I’m interested in human and civil rights and I’m a member of my high school’s Amnesty International club. I like to read about things relating to science and technology, but I’m not especially knowledgeable in either. Also, my favorite show is Suzumiya Haruhi no YĆ«utsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), an anime, and my favorite book is 1984 by George Orwell. Neither are perfect, but their plots are excellent I highly recommend them.
